'Egypt Votes' - Supporting professional journalism in Egypt
While Egypt looks forward to the first parliamentary and presidential elections after the political changes that took place at the beginning of 2011, the need for professional journalism to cover the recent political debates related to the polls accurately and unbiased grows. „Egypt Votes“ aims to provide professional training and on-the-job coaching to a network of young Egyptian journalists and promote their skills in reporting the reality of their surroundings under the guidance of a team of Egyptian media experts.
The journalists will be encouraged to use a range of media to produce timely and exclusive material that will be published on the project's dedicated website www.egyptvotes.org in Arabic and English.
„Egypt Votes” is jointly financed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada and the German Federal Foreign Office. It is produced by MICT (Media in Cooperation and Transition). The reporting is unrestricted and independent.
